The assistant manager of Newcastle United, Jason Tindall, has defended the £44 million Manchester United player following what has been described as “the worst” claim.

Jason Tindall, Newcastle United’s assistant, has defended Manchester United’s £44m star player following “the worst.” Andre Onana, the goalkeeper for Manchester United, has been the subject of media attention this week as a result of a public dispute with Lyon midfielder Nemanja Matic.

Matic, who played 189 games for Manchester United between 2017 and 2022, referred to Onana as “one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United’s history” after the Cameroonian asserted that his team was “way better” than Lyon. On Thursday night, Manchester United and Lyon played to a 2-2 draw in the Europa League.

The host team’s two goals were debatably attributable to Onana. Rayan Cherki scored a stoppage-time equaliser by pouncing on a parry from the Man United stopper, after the custodian was taken off guard by Thiago Almada’s free-kick delivery, which found the bottom right corner of the goal. Onana stated, “[Lyon] is a very good team,” prior to the Europa League quarter-final on Thursday.

Although we are aware of some of them, I believe it is unnecessary to concentrate on them. It is primarily about our actions.I believe that we are superior to them; we simply need to visit and demonstrate our identity. The game will be won if we arrive with a winning mentality, remain focused, and remain compact and united, while adhering to the game plan. “Certainly, it will be challenging; however, I believe that we are significantly superior to them.”

We are all aware of the significance of this game, and we will approach it with a winning attitude. Although this season has not been our strongest, we remain determined to achieve our goals. Matic was not amenable to Onana’s assertion that Manchester United were “significantly superior” to Lyon. During his pre-match press conference, the Serbian responded,

“To make such a statement, you must have a valid reason.” What was the statement made by Onana? It is imperative to exercise caution when discussing one of the most inadequate goalkeepers in the annals of Manchester United. I will question my ability to make such a statement if [David] De Gea, Peter Schmeichel, or [Edwin] Van der Sar say it. However, it is imperative that you demonstrate your presence before making such a statement,

given that you are statistically one of the worst goalkeepers in the modern annals of United. Onana responded to Matic’s remarks by sharing a photograph of himself celebrating Manchester United’s FA Cup victory from the previous season, along with the statement, “I would never be disrespectful to another club.”

We are aware that tomorrow’s encounter will be challenging against a formidable opponent. “Our primary objective is to deliver a performance that will inspire our supporters.” I have at least been able to hoist trophies with the most prestigious club in the world. Certain individuals are incapable of expressing the same sentiment.
