The Barcelona defender is uncertain for the upcoming match against Osasuna following a recent injury sustained during a match against Benfica.
Barcelona defender a doubt for Osasuna clash after fresh knock against Benfica Barcelona had to produce one of their best defensive displays this season to search out a tight 1-0 win against Benfica last night. It was a magnificent defensive shift from the Blaugrana, who were down 10-men after 22nd minute, when Pau Cubarsi brought up a straight red card.
Cubarsi’s red card meant that other Barcelona defenders had to put in a tremendous shift to retain the clean sheet. This didn’t bode all too well for Alejandro Balde, who picked up a knock during the proceedings. Balde a worry for Osasuna encounter According to Javi Miguel, Balde suffered a significant knock to the ankle yesterday, which may impair his availability in the forthcoming battle against CA Osasuna.
Indeed, the Spanish journalist says that Balde will be a doubt for Barcelona for the Osasuna, especially on account of exhaustion. This means that the Spanish defender may just be suffering from pain rather than any physical injury. Therefore, the worst case scenario for Barcelona will be Balde’s likely absence in the next league game against Osasuna.
To that aim, Javi Miguel further informs that Balde is likely to be fit to play the second leg Round of 16 battle against SL Benfica. This could turn out to be a gift in disguise for Barcelona, as it means that the defender will have a full week’s recuperation before taking against Benfica once again.
In the meantime, Hansi Flick may always call on the talents of Gerard Martin in the upcoming league battle against Osasuna. The teenage left-back did excellently in the last game against Real Sociedad and there’s no reason why he can’t continue his form against Osasuna this weekend.
