The Celtic hero may now be able to play alongside Kevin de Bruyne following a £25.6 million transfer proposal.

A £25.6 million transfer bid has resulted in the possibility of a Celtic icon playing alongside Kevin de Bruyne. Kevin de Bruyne is considered one of the most exceptional playmakers of his era.

Brendan Rodgers, the Celtic manager, has encountered de Bruyne on numerous occasions throughout his career; however, he has never encountered him during his tenure at Scotland’s most successful team.

Celtic defeated Manchester City in a preseason exhibition last summer; however, the Belgian player was absent from the match, during which the Hoops scored four goals against Pep Guardiola’s team. Rodgers would have been appreciative when he was initially assigned to tactically prepare against de Bruyne as Leicester City manager.

He was left in astonishment, describing the midfielder as “world-class” and expressing his admiration for “great talent,” as reported by Manchester City Evening News in 2019. However, as the 2025 summer transfer window commences, another Bhoys hero could now be playing alongside him, while the Celtic manager was able to observe him from the sidelines.

Kevin de Bruyne and Matt O’Riley are teammates at Napoli. Matt O’Riley, who departed Celtic in a club-record transfer to Brighton and Hove Albion last summer, may be packing his bags once more. This is due to the fact that Napoli is interested in signing O’Riley following Antonio Conte’s successful tenure as the club’s manager during the most recent season.

Napoli is not wasting time, as they have already acquired de Bruyne on a free transfer following his departure from Manchester City. The Celtic supporters can attribute their success to Ange Postecoglou, who, during his tenure in Glasgow, recruited several exceptional players who have since developed into extraordinary players.

Despite the fact that the Scottish champions only paid £1.5 million for O’Riley, he went on to win a treble, including a double under Rodgers, and helped the club generate a significant amount of revenue. Now, a few additional millions could be added to the pot if he secures a transfer to Napoli.
