The father of Rangers’ 24-year-old midfielder Nicolas Raskin has spoken out about his son’s future at the club

The father of Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin has made it clear that his son plans to remain at the club until the end of the season. Thierry Raskin explained that the looming World Cup and the influence of new manager Danny Rohl are central to Nicolas’ decision to stay.

Speaking to dhnet.be, he said:
“With a season that finishes with a World Cup, you have to think carefully. But the plan is not to leave, especially with a new coach, Danny Rohl, who wants to build something special.”

Raskin is currently away with the Belgian national team. He featured in their 1–1 draw against Kazakhstan earlier today. According to his father, these international moments mean a lot to him.

“It’s going to be a special occasion for Nico,” Raskin Sr. added. “He came through the ranks at Standard, played there, and still watches their matches. Just recently, when I asked what he was doing, he said, ‘I’m watching Standard’s game.’”

He also shared that Nicolas feels energised when joining up with Belgium:
“He knows what the national team expects, and he enjoys proving himself. I can sense he flourishes when he’s with the Red Devils. He’s always dreamed of this and never hid his ambition—he’s worked hard while waiting for his opportunity.”

Belgium will be back in action on Tuesday against Liechtenstein, with the match taking place at Standard Liege’s home ground—Raskin’s former club.
