Exclusive: “Discussions I have engaged in…” – Arsenal’s interest in a Premier League player for a transfer has been confirmedCharles Watts indicates that Arsenal appears to be genuinely interested in the prospective transfer of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.
In an exclusive interview with CaughtOffside for his most recent Daily Briefing column, Watts disclosed that the Gunners’ interest in Cunha is not unexpected, given his exceptional performance for Wolves in recent months. The Brazil international appears to possess the potential to transition to a more prominent club.
However, the current situation is that Wolves will undoubtedly exert their best efforts to retain his services while they are embroiled in a relegation battle. Arsenal is a viable alternative for the Chelsea player who is seeking to leave the club.
However, Arsenal is currently facing significant requirements, as they are expected to be without their star player, Bukayo Saka, for a period of approximately two months. Consequently, Mikel Arteta would be wise to acquire one or two new players in the attacking department this January.
Even though Arsenal is more likely to make significant moves in the summer than in the winter, Watts anticipates that Arsenal may attempt to make a move.
However, the agreement for Cunha appears to be difficult to complete. Arsenal’s interest in Matheus Cunha has been verified; however, the transaction appears to be challenging.
Watts stated, “It is evident that Arsenal is still in the early stages of determining how they will manage the absence of the injured Bukayo Saka.”
“The message that has been conveyed to me through conversations I have had is that Arsenal is always hesitant to engage in business in January and that the club will be reactive, rather than proactive in the market.”
“That’s acceptable; however, it appears that they are required to respond to this.” Saka’s absence for approximately ten weeks is a devastating setback. It is as straightforward as that.
