The Football Association has issued an official update regarding a significant change that will affect Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Wolves, and other teams.
SAOT has been implemented in UEFA competitions since its introduction at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and it was anticipated that the Premier League would follow suit. However, the commencement date has been postponed. SAOT could be implemented in the top-flight before the conclusion of the season if it is successful this weekend.
The FA announced earlier this month that they would be testing the technology in the Fifth Round. They have recently released an update on the functionality of SAOT and the outcomes that supporters can anticipate when the technology is implemented to make a decision, whether in stadiums or on television. The FA provided an explanation of the operation of SAOT,
disclosing that each stadium has been equipped with new cameras to facilitate the technology’s operation: The system employs up to 30 newly installed cameras that are positioned throughout Premier League stadiums. Several of these cameras are capable of capturing footage at a rate of 100 frames per second, which is twice the frame rate of typical broadcast cameras.
