This summer, Celtic were actively seeking a left-back to provide coverage for Kieran Tierney.
It was widely known that Brendan Rodgers desired an additional high-quality left-sided full-back to guarantee that Tierney could be rested as needed throughout the current season.
The Celtic manager’s pursuit of an additional defender was further exacerbated by the departure of Greg Taylor to PAOK.
Matthew Anderson, a youthful player, was once considered capable of performing a task for Celtic.
However, Anderson has disclosed the rationale behind his departure from Celtic this summer, which resulted in his transfer to KV Kortrijk in the Belgian second tier.
Matthew Anderson provides an explanation for Celtic’s premature departure.
Anderson gained valuable first-team experience during his loan stint at Admira Wacker, where he refined his talents.
Nevertheless, the Celtic Academy graduate promptly transferred to KV Kortrijk this summer.
Anderson stated to The Scotsman, “They arrived early in the summer and appeared to be extremely enthusiastic.”
“The manager was the assistant at Club Brugge last season, which is somewhat comparable to the manner in which I was raised to play at Celtic.”
“They appeared to be exceedingly ambitious.” I believe I just read in the news that Aberdeen attempted to acquire a player named Denes Vilmos for a million euros. We have recently signed him.
“Playing in the top division of Belgium would be an ideal situation for an individual such as myself if we are able to secure promotion.”
Matthew Anderson claims that Celtic’s departure was motivated by the “pathway of going abroad.”
Anderson has evidently been informed that he will be included in the Belgian team’s first team plans, which appears to have influenced his decision to depart Glasgow just over two months after his Celtic exit.
Anderson continued, “There is a route to travel abroad.” Lennon’s [Miller] has also done so. Max [Johnston] has travelled abroad.
“I believe the success rate is likely higher than that of remaining in Scotland; for some reason, it just seems to work.” I did examine that, and I believed that the manner in which we played was particularly conducive to my performance during my time in Austria, particularly during the inaugural season.
“I have no complaints, as it has been conducted in this manner in Belgium thus far.”
Anderson has made an impressive debut in Belgium, starting Kortrijk’s first four fixtures and contributing three assists in four victories.
Should the youthful defender contribute to his new club’s exceptional season-opening performance, he may very well realise his aspiration to compete in the Belgian top-flight.
