In the 2023–2024 Saudi Pro League season, Cristiano Ronaldo had yet another great year with Al Nassr. He broke the record for most goals scored in a single season and was the tournament’s top scorer with 35.
Even though CR7 was 39 years old and playing at that great level, he couldn’t keep his word to win titles for the club. First, Al Ain shocked everyone by beating them in the AFC Champions League.
Then, in the Saudi Arabian League, Al Hilal made history by becoming the unbeaten winners, even without Neymar. They then did it again by beating Al Nassr in a thrilling King’s Cup final.
Ronaldo was the best player for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League from 2023 to 2024. The great won’t be able to play for Portugal against Croatia, though.
That’s why the UEFA Euro 2024 is such a huge chance for Cristiano to make things right, and if he has an amazing game and wins, the Ballon d’Or might still be an option.
What’s the deal with Cristiano Ronaldo not playing for Portugal against Sweden?
After a very busy season with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, Cristiano Ronaldo will not play today for Portugal against Croatia in an International Friendly in Lisbon. He wants to take some time off.
The star is on the list of reserves, but coach Roberto Martinez said it’s very unlikely that he’ll play. CR7 just got back from a week of vacation and is already working with the Portuguese team for the UEFA Euro 2024. Ronaldo might start when they play Ireland next Tuesday at Aveiro.
That will be Portugal’s last practice game before the biggest event of the year. They will be in Group F with Turkey, the Czech Republic, and Georgia.
