Brendan Rodgers’s message to Celtic supremo Dermot Desmond following a title win fans might have missed.
After Celtic claimed their fourth consecutive title at Dundee United, Brendan Rodgers messaged Dermot Desmond. Following his 11th domestic title, the Celtic manager made history at Tannadice and rises to become the most decorated manager in the club’s annals. Rodgers, a
man born in Carnlough, has the opportunity to become the first Celtic manager to win three trebles on May 24th as he keeps breaking records at Parkhead. Rodgers, however, conveyed a note to Hoops owner Dermot Desmond inside Tannadice that fans might have missed after closing the curtain following Celtic’s smashing of Dundee United. Brendan Rodgers acknowledges Dermot Desmond for managing Celtic risk.
Not one supporter would have expected Rodgers to have returned to Celtic as boss once he left in 2019.Rodgers paid tribute to the majority shareholder for taking that risk when Ange Postecoglou left Celtic for Spurs. Desmond had only one man in mind to take over the reigns. Rodgers stated to BBC Radio Scotland,
“Yes, my career has been exceptional up to this point.” We embarked on a voyage as young coaches and have had the opportunity to manage some truly remarkable clubs. “However, Celtic is, as I previously mentioned, a place where there is an emotional connection due to the support of the club, family, and friends.
Therefore, it is truly special to beI can certainly recall the incident I mentioned earlier, but I must once again express my gratitude to Dermot Desmond for his unwavering support and faith in me. He was able to bring me back when many others would not have, both within and outside the club. “I believe that this is a day for him to enjoy a glass of champagne or wine,
whichever he prefers, with a sense of pride, and I hope that he felt the same way while watching the game.” It is an extraordinary figure. There is a sense that it has been normalized, despite the fact that it is not. It is exceedingly challenging to execute. But for these players, we will strive to win as many trophies as possible from the first day of preseason to the conclusion of the season.
For the past week, Celtic supporters have been subjected to media commentary that attempts to minimize the club’s recent accomplishments as Rangers conclude yet another season without a trophy. The jealously that exists in certain sectors of Scottish football is quite apparent, and Rodgers is entirely accurate.
In actuality, Celtic’s success is anything but effortless, and the club should be commended for their ongoing dominance of Scottish football, rather than criticized. Brendan Rodgers addresses Celtic’s doubters in a message Celtic are on the cusp of achieving their sixth treble in nine years,
the ninth in the club’s history, and Rodgers has expressed his enthusiasm. The Hoops boss continued, “Yeah, it’s just the culture of the club over the last period of time. We’ve had great cultures and great managers working in here, but we’ve had the culture of winning and what it takes to win.”
