The most recent transfer update concerning Rangers’ interest in Lawrence Shankland

Rangers are in desperate need of a new striker when the January transfer window opens.

With November barely underway, the Ibrox side already find themselves with little to play for. Their Scottish League Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic ended one route to silverware, and a 14-point gap to Hearts in the Premiership looks all but impossible to overturn.

If Rangers are to salvage their season, signing a proven goalscorer must be the top priority — and a renewed move for Lawrence could be on the cards.

Shankland penned a new deal with Hearts in July, which complicates any potential transfer, but the move still seems too logical to ignore. The Gers were linked with the striker in the summer but failed to strike a deal.
Since then, the Scotland international has continued to impress, notching 12 goal contributions in 15 appearances.

His arrival would not only bolster Rangers’ attacking threat but also weaken a major league rival.

Former Scotland midfielder Robert Snodgrass recently described Shankland as a “top number nine” — exactly what Rangers are missing.
