The real reason why Vice President of the United States JD Vance was openly booed by crowd at Kennedy Center concert after Donald Trump takeover of arts venue
While witnessing a National Symphony Orchestra performance at the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts on Thursday, Vice President JD Vance was met with a raucous chorus of jeers and boos.
As Vance sat in the box tier next to his wife, Usha Vance, for the symphony’s performance of Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 2 and Stravinsky’s “Petrushka,” the audience erupted in loud protests.
There were videos of the vice president beaming and waving in the midst of the noise. The Guardian reported that the boos were accompanied by shouts of “you ruined this place!”
The New York Times reported that the symphony’s performance was delayed by approximately 20 minutes as a result of Secret Service security measures.
The cultural center’s leadership was significantly overhauled by President Donald Trump, which resulted in Vance’s unwelcome reception. Last month, Trump replaced numerous board members with Cabinet members and allies, prompting others to voluntarily resign.
Additionally, Trump declared himself as the new chairman of the Kennedy Centre board.
After the centre hosted drag show performances at its venue last year, the president explained on social media that he made the decision.
The new administration’s takeover has been denounced by numerous stars and artists, with some choosing to cancel impending performances at the centre.
Usha Vance, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Trump’s Chief of Staff Susie Wiles comprise the Kennedy Center’s new board of directors.
