The reason why Liverpool declined the £63 million transfer of Alexander Isak is that Newcastle United has maintained their stance this summer.

Alexander Isak is set to commence his fourth season as a Newcastle United player, and Liverpool has rejected his transfer for £63 million. Liverpool has been reported to be interested in him; however, the Magpies will not entertain any offers for him this summer.

They will instead focus on constructing a team around the Swedish international. Mohamed Salah’s 29 Premier League goals were the only ones to surpass Isak’s 23 goals last season, as he proceeded to establish himself as one of the world’s top strikers.

A club record £63m was paid for Isak three years ago, which was considered a risk at the time. However, he has since proved to be worth every penny and much more since his relocation to Tyneside. Nevertheless, Liverpool’s decision to pursue Isak three years ago could have significantly altered the course of Newcastle United’s recent history.

Ian Graham, the former director of research at Liverpool, stated that the Reds had scouted Isak and were contemplating a transfer. However, Jurgen Klopp, who had gained more control over transfers at that time, directed the club to pursue Darwin Nunez from Benfica.
