The stats never lie — and Week 21 gave us plenty to unpack

The final week of the regular season had no shortage of excitement, as playoff races tightened and several stars delivered standout performances.
With the postseason now on the horizon, Pro Football Focus (PFF) highlighted the players who shone brightest in Week 21.

Saskatchewan’s Kian Schaffer-Baker capped off the regular season in style, tying for the league lead with five first-down receptions, per PFF. The Riders’ deep receiving corps has been a strength all year, and Schaffer-Baker once again proved his value on both short-yardage and mid-range routes as Saskatchewan fine-tuned its rhythm heading into the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Dedrick Mills continued to be a handful for defenders. The Calgary Stampeders running back forced six missed tackles in the finale — the most of any player in Week 21. His mix of power and balance helped Calgary control the ground game and allowed Mills to lock up the CFL rushing title with 1,409 yards.

At quarterback, Nathan Rourke showcased his elite arm strength once again, registering five “big-time throws,” the highest total of any QB this week. Whether throwing deep downfield or threading tight windows, Rourke’s precision and poise kept the Lions offense rolling and should inspire plenty of confidence heading into the postseason.

On defense, Reggie Stubblefield turned in a remarkable performance for Hamilton, holding opponents to minus-one passing yard — yes, negative one — according to PFF. He also added his first interception of the season, completely locking down his side of the field and helping the Ticats clinch top spot in the East Division.

And finally, Julian Howsare continued his dominant form in the trenches, leading all defenders with five total pressures(two sacks, one hit, and two hurries). His relentless pressure and six sacks over the past three games have been pivotal to Hamilton’s late-season surge as they head into the playoffs in strong form.
