3 Key Stats Behind Montreal’s Eastern Semi-Final Win Over Winnipeg
Just weeks after their Week 21 meeting, the Montreal Alouettes got their payback, taking down the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 42–33 at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon to punch their ticket to the Eastern Final.
Quarterback Davis Alexander led a sharp offensive display, leaning on his deep group of receivers and a strong running game to stay in control — even after a fierce third-quarter rally from Winnipeg.
44 – Second-Half Points Scored
Montreal came flying out of the gates, racing to a 17–0 first-quarter lead. Tyson Philpot was unstoppable early, finding the end zone twice, including a spectacular 45-yard touchdown. By halftime, the Alouettes were comfortably ahead 25–6, having limited Winnipeg to just six points.
But the Blue Bombers fought back in trademark fashion, erasing a 19-point gap with a 21-point third quarter that tightened the contest. Montreal, however, steadied themselves and finished strong — 10 late points, capped by a clutch field goal with 21 seconds remaining, sealed a hard-fought nine-point victory.
300+ – Passing Yards for Each Quarterback
Both signal-callers lit up the stat sheet. Davis Alexander threw for 384 yards on 24-of-34 passing, while Zach Collarosresponded with 306 yards, completing 19 of 24 attempts.
It marked the fifth 300-yard game this season for Alexander and the fourth for Collaros. The Alouettes quarterback has also maintained his streak of throwing a touchdown in every outing this year.
556 – Total Offensive Yards for Montreal
Montreal’s offence clicked in every department. With Philpot and Alexander leading the passing attack and Stevie Scott III dominating on the ground, the Alouettes piled up 556 total yards.
Scott rushed for 133 yards and scored twice, averaging an impressive 7.4 yards per carry. Philpot topped all receivers with 135 yards, while Austin Mack added 98 and Charleston Rambo contributed 95 — giving Montreal three receivers with over 90 yards each.
It was a complete and convincing performance from the Alouettes, showcasing their firepower and resilience as they marched into the Eastern Final.
