It has been reported that Liverpool will commence their most recent substantial transfer proposal for a Premier League player following the departure of one of their current players.
The Reds have already recruited right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, following the activation of his £35 million release clause.
The club has reached an agreement to acquire Florian Wirtz, his teammate from Leverkusen, for an initial fee of £100 million. Additionally, negotiations are underway to sign Milos Kerkez, a left-back from Bournemouth, who is valued at £45 million.
Centre-back Jarell Quansah is reportedly in ‘advanced negotiations’ to join Leverkusen, according to Sky Sports. Their subsequent transfer transaction is expected to concentrate on an outgoing player.
Liverpool is reportedly seeking a fee of up to £40 million for Quansah, which would be a club record for Leverkusen. However, both parties are on the brink of agreeing to a £30 million deal with an additional £5.5 million in add-ons.
Erik ten Hag, the new manager, is acquainted with Quansah from his tenure at Manchester United. He has the potential to become his second summer signing, following the acquisition of Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken.
The 22-year-old is currently under contract at Anfield for four years, having penned it in October.
Nevertheless, he was not favored by Arne Slot last season, and he only appeared in 13 matches in the Premier League.
He was appointed to the starting lineup for the opening day’s 2-0 victory over Ipswich. However, he was substituted at halftime and did not appear in a single minutes of the Premier League until December.
His most frequent assignment was as a right-back, primarily in cup competitions, due to injuries.
Quansah is currently participating in the U21 European Championship with England, where he played 90 minutes in all three group stage encounters.
The Telegraph has reported that Liverpool will make a “substantial offer” to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi if he departs the club as anticipated.
In recent seasons, Guehi has emerged as one of the most exceptional defenders in the Premier League. It is now almost certain that he will be selected to start for England when he becomes available.
This season, he won his first major trophy with Palace, the FA Cup. Although this achievement would have qualified the Eagles for the Europa League and likely increased his chances of remaining, The Telegraph reports that Palace intends to sell their captain this summer.
However, BBC Sport has reported that Liverpool is also considering signing Guehi on a free transfer next summer if a deal does not materialize this summer and he does not sign a renewal at Selhurst Park. It is unclear whether the player would be willing to walk away for nothing.
