Tuur Rommens has played down speculation linking him with a move to Rangers, insisting he is unaware of any transfer interest.
Rangers are expected to be active during the January transfer window as another rebuild looms. Gretar Steinsson was in attendance for Rangers’ win over Motherwell on Saturday, underlining the American ownership’s intent to improve on what was a disappointing summer window.
Danny Rohl is believed to be targeting players already within Scottish football in January, while the club are also thought to be searching for a new striker.
Rommens addresses Rangers links
Rangers have several areas of the squad that require strengthening over the next few windows, with left-back potentially one of them. Jayden Meghoma has impressed at Ibrox this season, but the Brentford loanee is only contracted until the end of the campaign, and the Premier League club are expected to retain him long term.
As a result, identifying a permanent solution at left-back would make sense, and Rommens has emerged as a reported target in recent days. The 22-year-old Belgian youth international has been a consistent performer for Westerlo and appears ready to take the next step in his career.
However, speaking in an update reported by the Daily Record, Rommens suggested he has not been made aware of any interest from Rangers.
“I don’t know anything about any transfer to Rangers. We’ll have to wait and see,” he said.
Rommens’ season in numbers
With the Belgian Pro League currently paused for the winter break ahead of a 16 January restart, Rommens has once again underlined his importance to Westerlo this season. No left-back in Belgium’s top division has won more ground duels (104) or aerial duels (39), highlighting the defensive edge he could offer Rangers.
Rommens has made 15 league appearances so far in the 2025–26 campaign, starting 14 of those matches, and is averaging a 7.02 rating per game according to FotMob. Those numbers suggest he could be a smart long-term addition should Rangers pursue a deal.
