Matt Ritchie and Paul Dummett, trade targets of Newcastle United, embarked on journeys to Australia for the Global Football Week but did not make it into either matchday squad.
Although they were not included in either matchday squads in Melbourne, Matt Ritchie and Paul Dummett traveled the 20,000-mile round journey to Australia with Newcastle United.

Newcastle defeated Tottenham Hotspur on penalties on Wednesday, and a youthful side was defeated 8-0 by the A-League All-Stars on Friday, while the two, whose contracts expire next month, observed from the sidelines. Contract circumstances rendered Dummett and Ritchie “rested” for the two games in Australia, despite the fact that they have not started a Premier League match in the last two and a half seasons.

When their contracts expire this summer, both players may be on the lookout for new organizations. However, Howe has speculated that the future of Newcastle could be affected by their prospective participation in the Conference League forthcoming season. For Arsenal to qualify for Europe, the FA Cup final on Saturday must see Manchester City prevail over Manchester United.

Paul Dummett and Matt Ritchie have been tremendous servants to the football club, he said prior to the trip to Australia. “European qualification may potentially have an impact on what happens in the future for them.”

Although their contracts expired the following month, Lucas De Bolle and Amadou Diallo also traveled to Australia. The youthful duo participated in both matches, in contrast to Ritchie and Dummett.

During the 2023-24 season, Diallo has made one Premier League appearance from the substitute, whereas De Bolle, age 21, has yet to make a competitive appearance for Newcastle’s squad. However, in an effort to secure contracts elsewhere, Newcastle will not extend new contracts to either player this summer.
