Two players were criticised by Ian Wright in Arsenal’s victory over Chelsea.
IAN WRIGHT SLAMS TWO PLAYERS IN ARSENAL’S WIN OVER CHELSEA Ian Wright, the legendary Arsenal player, targeted Christopher Nkunku and Robert Sanchez for criticism in the aftermath of Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Enzo Maresca’s team suffered their third loss in five Premier League games as a result of Mikel Merino’s 20th-minute header. Martin Ødegaard’s header was deflected over Sanchez by the Spanish midfielder, who capitalised on a weakness in Chelsea’s defensive structure. In an interview with Premier League Productions,
Wright identified Nkunku’s inability to maintain his position at the near post as a critical factor in Arsenal’s goal. Wright stated, “It is an exceptional header; however, it is imperative to evaluate Nkunku’s meticulousness.” “He has been assigned to that position by the manager for a specific reason.” That has resulted in their loss of the competition. Merino’s agility is exceptional; however, his scoring capabilities are contingent upon Nkunku’s negligence.
Ian Wright further stated, “He is not entitled to be present.” It is imperative that he resume his position. It was peculiar. He has ample territory, but he became involved with an Arsenal player. It is likely that he would have caught it if he had been positioned appropriately. The goalkeeping at this level is so inadequate—it is not good enough.Palmer was absent today.
Wright remarked that they appeared somewhat lacklustre in the absence of Jackson and Madueke. “The dynamics for Arsenal significantly change if those three are participating.” Arsenal triumphed, which is commendable; nevertheless, I expected more from Chelsea, as their performance was subpar tonight.
