“VAR CONTROVERSY.” The hidden reason why Alejandro Garnacho’s goal was cancelled during the Brighton vs. Manchester United match on Saturday (2-1)

The Argentinian thought he had put the Red Devils ahead of the Seagulls. Alex Garnacho scored in the 70th minute, but VAR called it off. Manchester United will leave the Amex Stadium this afternoon thinking what could have happened.

Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton beat Manchester United 2-1, with Joao Pedro scoring in the last minute to keep their good start to the season. Just 20 minutes into the game, the Red Devils thought they had scored an important goal after a great counterattack that saw them get the ball to Bruno Fernandes in space on the right side of the field and then work well with Amad Diallo.

The Portuguese player whipped the ball into the box, and Joshua Zirkzee slid in to try to grab it, but he missed.

Around the far post, Garnacho was able to get on the end of the cross and send the ball toward the goal. United lost because the ball hit the Dutch scorer and went into the net, only a few inches from the goal line.

The goal was called good by the officials on the field, but VAR checked to see if Zirkzee might have been offside, and it was ruled out even though the strike was a sure thing, even with the small touch.

After Danny Welbeck scored the first goal and Amad Diallo tied the game, play resumed with a Brighton free kick.

Both teams tried hard to win in the end, but the home team took all three points.

Simon Adingra was played into the box from the left side and set up Pedro at the far post to break the tie in the 95th minute. This broke United’s hearts.

The Premier League Match Center, which runs all Premier League games, revealed the reason. “Zirkzee’s goal was awarded on the field,” they wrote on Twitter.

The VAR looked at the play to see if Zirkzee was offside and said that the goal should be thrown out. Brighton got a free kick to start the game again.
