‘Verbal agreement’… Fabrizio Romano reports that a Manchester United player is scheduled to undergo a medical examination pending the completion of formalities, as the club seeks to transfer an underperforming talent after affording him several opportunities to demonstrate his capabilities.
Since assuming leadership, Ruben Amorim has afforded opportunities to every Manchester United player at his disposal. Some individuals have accepted them, while others have declined. Antony belongs to the latter group, having also faced challenges under the previous management of Erik ten Hag.
Antony has recorded one goal and no assists this season, with his solitary goal being scored from the penalty spot in the match against Barnsley. Antony is now progressing towards the exit of Manchester United, with a preliminary agreement reached.
Antony is poised for departure. In recent days, the Spanish club Real Betis has emerged as the frontrunner to secure the signing of Antony, surpassing competition from the Greek club Olympiakos and his former team, Ajax.
A deal is nearing finalisation, as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Real Betis has reached a verbal agreement with Antony, his representatives, and Manchester United. Romano has stated that there will be neither a purchase option nor any obligation associated with the agreement; it will solely constitute a straightforward loan.
He reports that Antony is scheduled to travel to Spain to undergo a medical examination once the necessary documentation has been approved. Romano states:
“The transfer of Antony to Real Betis is confirmed; the deal is finalised!” A verbal agreement has been established among all stakeholders involved, including Manchester United. “Documents are currently undergoing verification; subsequently, arrangements will be made for travel and medical examinations.”
United will permit him to depart on a loan arrangement that includes no purchase option. He is scheduled to officially return to United in June. The Antony loan presents an opportunity to enhance value. There is limited interest among teams to acquire Antony during the January transfer window.
Any proposal that United would be compelled to approve would be one of considerable humiliation. It is probable that Antony does not possess the array of teams he desires, nor those capable of offering a salary commensurate with that of Manchester United.
Outstanding performances by Antony could enhance his reputation, which has significantly declined at Old Trafford. Amorim has deployed him in the role of wing-back as well as in the capacity of an inside attacker; however, neither position has proven to be more effective than his tenure as a winger under Ten Hag.
He participated for only the final six minutes in the match against Brighton, having played the entirety of the second half against Southampton, during which he squandered a straightforward opportunity in the latter period of the game.
