West Bromwich Albion board have given their final verdict over Ryan Mason plan sack decision

West Brom Board Deliver Verdict on Ryan Mason Amid Mounting Pressure

West Bromwich Albion’s hierarchy remain determined to give Ryan Mason time to steady the ship despite a disappointing start to the campaign, Football Insider sources have revealed.

The 34-year-old was appointed in June as the club’s preferred successor to Tony Mowbray after an extensive search, marking Mason’s first full-time senior managerial role following his promising coaching rise at Tottenham Hotspur. But results so far in the 2025–26 season have been inconsistent, leaving the Baggies in a difficult position heading into the winter months.

Players Still Support Mason

A 3–1 defeat to QPR last weekend intensified the scrutiny on Mason, who has since become the bookmakers’ favourite to be the next Championship manager dismissed. However, insiders say the West Brom board have no immediate plans to sack him, with senior figures encouraged by the fact that the playing squad remains behind their manager.

West Brom currently sit 16th in a congested Championship table but remain only five points off the playoff positions—something the board believes still leaves room for recovery if momentum can be rebuilt.

January Reinforcements Planned

The club are preparing to support Mason in the January window, with Rangers prospect Bailey Rice among their key targets. The board hope that strategic additions can help push the Baggies back toward the top half of the table.

Away Form a Growing Concern

While Mason retains backing for now, the manager has been urged to urgently address West Brom’s poor performances away from home.

The team have managed just three wins in 10 away league fixtures, suffering seven defeats—the joint-worst record among the Championship’s mid-table sides.

The lack of resilience on the road has been a major factor in the club’s sluggish first half of the campaign, and officials fear that unless results improve quickly, Mason’s job could come under renewed threat later in the season.
