What Celtic’s Anthony Ralston Said After Assisting Scotland in Their Victory Over Croatia Last NightCeltic right-back Yesterday evening, Anthony Ralston demonstrated his reliability once more for his nation, playing the entire 90 minutes as Scotland defeated a Croatian team that was replete with star players, 1-0, at Hampden.

John McGinn, a midfielder for Aston Villa, scored the sole goal of the game in the dying moments, firing from within the penalty area to secure the victory for Steve Clarke’s team. Ralston has consistently been a dependable performer for Scotland, despite the constant condemnation he receives. He has now started the last nine games for his country.

He put in another battling display in dark blue yesterday evening, and Steve Clarke obviously trusts the 26-year-old. Ralston skilfully formed a partnership with Ben Doak, a former Celtic youth, on the right-hand side.

The teenager’s man-of-the-match performance was a revelation, as he caused Josko Gvardiol of Manchester City to experience nightmares.

In the second half, Ralston observed the game from the north stand of Hampden Park and provided guidance to the young Doak, urging him to shoot high and wide when Scotland launched an assault.

After the match, Ralston addressed the media and discussed the victory: “Croatia are a top team, and they have top-tier players” (Sky Sports). “We were cognisant of that prior to the game.

“However, we were aware, particularly from the previous camp, that the performances were present; it was merely the outcome.” None of us were satisfied with that outcome; therefore, we are exceedingly pleased to have achieved a victory, particularly against a team such as Croatia.

Ralston’s ability to join the Scotland team against Croatia and perform in the manner he did, despite having played only 74 minutes for Celtic since the last international break, is a testament to his professionalism.

He is expected to maintain his position in the starting lineup as the Scots depart for Poland on Monday evening to conclude their turbulent Nations League A campaign.
