Why West Brom are having difficulty to sign the 24-year-old Celtic FC player Mikey Johnston

Mikey Johnston has made a huge difference at West Brom since he moved there on loan in January.

The winger from the Republic of Ireland has really started to make a name for himself in the English Championship. In his first ten games, he scored six goals and set up one more.

Johnston has sometimes been in this kind of form for Celtic but never really delivered. To be honest, it’s great to see him live up to the promise we all knew he had.

The 24-year-old probably won’t be able to get his career back on track at Celtic, but Carlton Palmer thinks that Johnston’s form for West Brom is a big problem because he wants to keep him there.

It would be so bad for Johnston to do so well that he might not be able to move to The Hawthorns after all.

But Palmer thinks that might happen this season, even at the £3m he thinks would be enough to get Celtic to sell.

Palmer told Football League World, “I believe this is a difficulty for West Brom.” Johnston has made a huge difference. He’s been great, scoring six goals and setting up one.

“West Brom should try to get him on a permanent deal because he’s done so well for the Baggies and won over the fans.” But it was clear that Celtic didn’t have the choice to buy him, which is why they sent him out on loan.

“There is no doubt that Johnston is talented, but he needed to play more, and he has done that at West Brom in the Championship.” Albion is still in the running for the play-offs, but it will be hard for them to get him now that he’s done so well.

If I were the new owner, I’d be meeting with Celtic right now to try to finish the deal that will keep him at the football club. There’s no doubt that Brendan Rodgers will be thinking about how to bring him back after seeing what a great signing he was.

Before anything else, I don’t think Rodgers will ever consider Johnston coming back to Celtic with the goal of playing for the first team again.

He has had a lot of chances this season but hasn’t taken any of them. Other teams will probably be happy to take Johnston if he doesn’t decide to move to West Brom.

Since the beginning of the year, Johnston has shown that he has what it takes to perform at a very good level. That level is just not at Celtic, which is a shame.
