New Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy has wasted no time asserting his authority, with insiders claiming he is ready to bench two regular starters based on what he observed during his first full training session. Known for his strict, possession-focused approach, Nancy was reportedly “impressed by some players and alarmed by others” during his initial assessment at Lennoxtown.
Sources say the Frenchman repeatedly paused exercises to correct positioning, offer tactical instructions, and outline exactly how he wants Celtic to play—particularly in terms of building from deep, rotating through midfield, and pressing as a unified team.
Although he has not gone public with any names, it’s believed two senior players could be dropped as early as next weekend. One is understood to have “struggled significantly” with the positional responsibilities Nancy demands, while the other was flagged for a “lack of intensity” during key tactical sequences.
