Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has dismissed speculation linking Max Cleworth with a move to Aston Villa this January.
The 23-year-old, who has appeared 25 times in the Championship this season, was left out of Friday’s FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest due to a groin issue, fueling online transfer rumours.
Parkinson clarified: “Max is very much part of our plans. We decided to rest him tonight after Derby.”
Wrexham CEO Mike Williamson previously stated that the club’s owners would reject any offers for Cleworth, though the player’s own wishes could influence any future decisions.
For now, Cleworth remains under contract until 2027 and is a key part of Wrexham’s squad.
