Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney finalised their takeover of Wrexham A.F.C. in 2021, and a fresh report suggests the club could now be facing a financial setback as they continue their push for a place in next season’s Premier League.
The Hollywood duo purchased the then-National League side in February 2021 for a reported £2 million, marking the start of a remarkable transformation at the Racecourse Ground.
Since completing the deal, the co-owners have invested heavily in the club and enjoyed significant success in return. Wrexham have secured three successive promotions and currently occupy a Championship play-off spot after 34 matches.
Should they manage to secure a fourth consecutive promotion this summer, the financial rewards that come with Premier League football would propel the club to an entirely new level, both commercially and competitively.
