Wrexham vs Birmingham City: Teams news, predicted starting lineup and player to miss the match

Birmingham City will be in pursuit of a victory over Wrexham on Friday night (8pm, Sky Sports Main Event) in order to achieve a position in the top six by playing before any other team. Wrexham and Blues were both promoted from division One in May.

Blues won the division with 111 points, while Wrexham finished second with 92. Betting sites had both of these teams as potential promotion contenders again, given the financial support they receive. Birmingham have made a more successful transition to the second tier upon their return, with Chris Davies’ team presently occupying the eleventh position in the Championship.

However, they have only won one of their last five matches, which was against Swansea City. The most discouraging outcome of their recent run, however, may have been the 2-2 draw at home against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday, in which they relinquished the lead.

In the Championship, the Welsh team has also encountered difficulty, earning only nine points from their first eight games despite investing heavily in experienced players like Kieffer Moore, Conor Coady, Nathan Broadhead, and Ben Sheaf. Sheffield Wednesday and Derby have both held them to draws at the Racecourse Ground, and they have yet to secure a victory in the Championship at home in three attempts. Meanwhile, they were defeated 3-1 by West Brom in the other match.

This is the first time Phil Parkinson’s team has competed at this level since the 1981/82 season. In the past three seasons, the former Bradford City and Hull manager has oversaw three promotions.

This was always going to be the most significant advancement, but the fact that they have scored in every league game and were able to draw with Leicester last time out will instill confidence in them as they prepare for a matchup in which the respective proprietors are arguably more widely recognised than the teams themselves.
