Xabi Alonso finally speaks out on him becoming the next Liverpool manager as Bayern Munich still mount future pressure on him
Bayern Munich and Liverpool are both interested in hiring Xabi Alonso as their manager, but the Bayer Leverkusen player has refused to say what his plans are.
Xabi Alonso wouldn’t comment on rumors that he might become Liverpool’s next manager, even though Bayern Munich wants him to take over as manager instead of Thomas Tuchel.
Jurgen Klopp, who has been in charge of Liverpool for almost nine years, said last month that he was going to step down at the end of the season. Alonso is the clear favorite to take over as manager of the Reds.
The former Liverpool midfielder is having a great season as manager of Bayer Leverkusen. His team hasn’t lost in any tournament and is eight points ahead at the top of the Bundesliga. They’ve also made it to the semi-finals of the German Cup and the last 16 of the Europa League.
Reports in Germany this week said that Bayern, who have said they will fire Tuchel in the summer, want to sign Alonso. The Reds aren’t the only team that used to play for Alonso and is now interested in him.
But the 44-year-old could still stay at Leverkusen. He was focused on his present team when he talked on Thursday afternoon, before their Bundesliga game at home against Mainz on Friday night.
“Bayern or Liverpool?” The driver said, “I don’t have anything new to say.” “I am 100% certain that I am the coach of Bayer Leverkusen right now.” I don’t have anything new to say about the future.
