Raheem Sterling is currently endeavouring to unseat Manchester City as champions, having contributed to four Premier League title victories at the Etihad.
This week, Mikel Arteta, the current manager of the winger, expressed his intention to provide him with additional playing time following his loan transfer from Chelsea.
Sterling has not been in consistent action for the Gunners since his departure from City, as he has been unable to make the desired impact at Stamford Bridge.
Sterling, who is still only 29, won all of the domestic trophies that were available during his seven-year tenure at the Etihad.
However, his debut in Manchester in 2015 was marred by controversy as he pursued a transfer from Liverpool. His intentions, salary, and character were extensively discussed.
Pep Guardiola’s performances at City rendered those enquiries obsolete. Sterling maintained that his primary motivation for leaving Liverpool for City was to win trophies, despite the numerous second-guessings he faced.
“When I got into Liverpool I said if I haven’t won the Premier League by the time I’m 21 I need to look at my options and see what I’m doing there,” according to him.
“I implemented that at a young age.” Upon my arrival at City, I achieved my first Premier League victory.
It is reassuring to know that the objectives I have established, as well as the objectives we have established as a team, are proceeding as intended. Upon his arrival, he stated, “I was immediately drawn to City when I learnt of their interest in me.
This was solely due to the direction the football club is headed in.” I am exceedingly pleased to be present. I believe that I made the correct decision.
“Pressure is inevitable for footballers who compete in the Premier League for high-profile clubs; however, it is essential to accept it and adapt to it.”
“I’ve got my own personal goals – assist ambitions – and hopefully doing really well for this football club and trying to get trophies.”
He has now played for all of the current Premier League top four, and the trophies have undoubtedly arrived for him. He was at his most productive at City, however.
