Newcastle United has confirmed a recent injury setback following a 37-game absence, resulting in four players being sidelined.

Joe Willock was unable to participate in Newcastle United’s 4-2 loss to Brentford on Saturday afternoon due to a newly sustained hamstring injury.

was unable to participate in 37 matches for Newcastle during the previous season due to hamstring and Achilles injuries.

However, he has appeared in 15 out of 18 fixtures across all competitions for Eddie Howe’s team thus far in the current campaign, starting in eight of those matches.

However, the 25-year-old was absent from The Magpies’ matchday roster at the Gtech Community Stadium, with Kieran Trippier taking his position on the substitutes following a period of illness.

In response to inquiries regarding Willock’s absence from the team, Howe conveyed to The Gazette: “I do not believe it to be a serious issue; he has experienced a minor hamstring problem.” In reference to his physical condition last month, Willock stated, “I feel well.”

I believe I am gradually returning to my optimal state. I believe I am performing at a high level and making a significant impact on the events. I shall continue to persevere.

“I aspire to maintain my momentum and consistently contribute by scoring and assisting goals.”

“The Premier League presents significant challenges in terms of re-entering the competition and performing at one’s optimal level once more.

“The midfielder is anticipated to return to the field for the match against Leicester City next Saturday at 3:00 PM, as Newcastle aims to conclude a streak of four consecutive matches without a victory in the Premier League.

Newcastle United has welcomed Sven Botman back to full training, as he approaches a return following an absence since March due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Club captain Jamaal Lascelles has also been unavailable for the same duration; however, it is understood that he is somewhat further behind Botman in his recuperation process.

Emil Krafth is expected to be sidelined until the commencement of the new year due to a fractured clavicle.
