Breaking News: The 23 years-old Celtic Midfielder Matt O’Riley transfer fee has be revealed for this january transfer window should he consider leaving
To this point in the season, there has been a significant amount of interest shown by rival clubs in Matt O’Riley. The midfielder has been playing exceptionally well recently, and clubs from all across Europe are showing interest in signing him.
The 23-year-old’s meteoric climb to fame has been nothing short of remarkable, and it would appear that Celtic may realize a substantial profit if and when they make the decision to sell him. This is because his international reputation is growing in tandem with his accomplishments in the Champions League.
So, what kind of price can Celtic anticipate receiving for O’Riley? A fee for the record? Following Anthony Joseph’s disclosure of what he has been informed would be an acceptable amount of money to make Celtic do business, it appears that this is the kind of thing that the club will be looking for.
The Celtics are in a very favorable situation with relation to Matt O’Riley, according to Joseph, who stated this on the Celtic Exchange Podcast. A brand new contract, and a very lucrative one at that, has just been signed by him.
During the final few days of the transfer window, Celtic turned down a bid of £10 million from Leeds United. This decision served as the impetus for Celtic’s desire to negotiate better conditions for the player.
“I mean, when Leeds were coming in with bids of £10 million, the thought process was, definitely based on the conversations I had, I don’t think Celtic would have entertained anything less than £15 million on the table.
But even fifteen million pounds would not have been enough to accomplish it. Anyway, I believe that in order to start that conversation, it would have required approximately twenty million pounds.
It is imperative that this be the case once more, especially with a new contract. The fact that he signed a new deal makes me believe that Celtic would not initiate the talks unless there was a compensation of at least twenty million pounds, and possibly even twenty-five million pounds.
It is my hope that Celtic will not consider selling O’Riley in the month of January. It would be a ridiculous thing for the club to even consider doing so at this time, given that the league championship is in the balance and there is a Champions League reward worth sixty million pounds up for grabs.
Should Celtic be successful in securing the league championship, they ought to make every effort to keep the 23-year-old player on their roster for at least one more season.
O’Riley will not be content to continue to be on the receiving end of any more embarrassing losses in Europe’s premier tournament, therefore Celtic must strengthen accordingly. It is possible that all it takes is one more opportunity to compete in the Champions League for him to decide whether or not to remain with the club.
