22-year-old United forward Greenwood is on loan at the Spanish club Getafe at the moment.

In the final hours of the summer transfer window, he completed a season-long loan with the La Liga club after Manchester United decided he would continue his career away from Old Trafford subsequent to an internal inquiry into his conduct.

United initially suspended Greenwood in January 2022 subsequent to his apprehension and subsequent charges of attempted rape, coercive and controlling conduct, and assault. In February, all charges lodged against Greenwood were dismissed subsequent to the withdrawal of crucial witnesses from the case and the disclosure of fresh evidence during the police investigation.

United verified in an August club statement that Greenwood would be leaving Old Trafford and that their investigation into the matter had determined that he “did not commit the offenses for which he was initially charged.”

Since his move to Spain, he has performed admirably for Getafe, accumulating five goals and four assists in fourteen outings.During Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Valencia, Greenwood recorded one goal and assisted on another. Getafe has already declared their intent to acquire the player on a permanent basis.

United has awarded Greenwood a contract valid through 2025, with an additional year of employment available.

The Athletic reports that prior to securing a permanent transfer, the club intends for the player to “complete his rehabilitation” on loan in Spain this season.

Angel Corres, president of Getafe, has already verified that the Spanish club is “considering purchasing” Greenwood due to his outstanding performances. There is a claim that Getafe, in the course of their loan agreement with United, included a provision granting them 20% of any compensation generated by the sale of Greenwood to another club.
