Breaking News: Officially, the Premier League has admitted that the officials made a horrific mistake using video assistant referees (VAR) in the Manchester United game

United have struggled to get off to a good start this season, losing five of their first ten Premier League games while Fulham have won three.
The goal that Manchester United scored in the seventh minute against Fulham was disallowed because Harry Maguire was brought into the game from offside.

While playing at Craven Cottage on Saturday, Scott McTominay appeared to have put the ball in the back of the net. Christian Eriksen headed a free kick into the box, but the goal was reexamined by the VAR referee and Maguire was ruled to have been offside.

Because Maguire was there, Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz couldn’t talk to Alejandro Garnacho, who was getting Eriksen’s delivery. For what seemed like the game’s easiest goal, McTominay got it when Garnacho smacked the ball across the goalkeeper’s face.

John Brooks, the referee, used his pitch-side monitor for an extensive review after McTominay’s strike to see whether Maguire had interfered with the game. Brooks agreed with the video assistant referee’s evaluation and disallowed the goal, much to Fulham’s relief.

The commentators from BBC Radio 5 Live couldn’t settle on a verdict. When asked if Harry Maguire was doing enough to disrupt the game, ex-Everton player Leon Osman raised doubts. Even though Conor Coady doesn’t think he’s interfering, I do. It further highlights how subjective this choice is.
The event was criticized as “ridiculous” and a “joke,” according to supporters who took to social media to question the idea that it was “clear and obvious.” Opponents’ advocates have lauded Brooks for his correct choice and highlighted Maguire’s part.

As the game progressed, TNT Sports commentator Jermaine Jenas offered his insights. “At first glance, it seems like it’s onside,” the ex-Tottenham midfielder said, “but Maguire tries to touch the ball, so it’s offside.”

He dives headfirst into activities, trying to win the ball at the finish line. Still, it’s ridiculous to judge performance on the field. Should we simply circulate it throughout the house until someone gives it some thought?

“Looking back, it was the right decision, but man, if you’re Manchester United at the moment, you’re facing some serious challenges.”

Joe Cole was an analyst for TNT Sports. As the commentator put it, “it’s a really tricky situation” because Maguire is offside but still tries to score. However, stop for a second and think about the pressure that VAR is now experiencing. While they only had four minutes to make the right call, we had thirty to forty.

In addition to the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, and Serie A, TNT Sports also airs live coverage of games from additional competitions.
