Breaking News: A journalist claims that Rangers and Celtic are both keeping an eye on a player who is being referred to as the “new Moises Caicedo” and is valued at £5.5 million
It has been reported by Graeme Bailey that both Rangers and Celtic have expressed interest in the Ecuadorian midfielder Oscar Zambrano, but it is highly doubtful that they will be able to sign him in January.
Bournemouth has now moved into pole position to grab his services during the January transfer window, according to the journalist who reported via HITC on Friday (5 January). The writer stated that both Old Firm teams have been keeping an eye on the 19-year-old midfielder.
Andoni Iralo’s team is currently in advanced negotiations with the Ecuadorian gem, who, according to HITC, has been referred to as the “new Moises Caicedo.” Wolves and Brighton are both interested in the player, and his performances have aroused the curiosity of Celtic and the Gers.
It is anticipated that Zambrano will cost the Cherries approximately £5.5 million in January. This is due to the fact that Luton Town’s offer of approximately £3 million was recently turned down by LDU Quito.
Philippe Clement has relied on the form and fitness of John Lundstram and Dujon Sterling in recent weeks, while Ryan Jack and Nicolas Raskin have been absent with injury. As a result, Rangers do require reinforcements in the midfield during the month of January.
Zambrano, on the other hand, would have been a bit of a chance for the Light Blues due to the fact that he has never played in a position that was outside of South America all during his career. Despite the fact that he is well regarded, it does not necessarily mean that he is a talented member of the first team.
In order for Clement to be successful in winning the Scottish Premiership this season, he needs players who will arrive in Glasgow and immediately begin getting to work. It is possible that Zambrano would not have been a signing that would have had an instant impact, despite the fact that he is said to be talented.
Following what appeared to be a missed opportunity to acquire the 19-year-old player in January, Rangers will need to quickly get back on their feet. The Gers still need to make a number of additions before the end of the month, and they need to move swiftly in order to prevent missing out on any other targets.
