An alleged target for Brendan Rodgers as a goalie is now on the market as a free agent, which could have been good news for Celtic this summer.

A lot of names have been linked to taking over for Joe Hart in goal, but as July approaches, there still doesn’t seem to be any sign of his replacement.

Asmir Begovic has been linked with a move to Celtic this summer. He played 46 times for Queens Park Rangers last season and made 13 clean sheets [Transfermarkt].

Reports say that the 37-year-old was put on the Hornets’ watchlist for the summer as they look for a new star player. This month, he wouldn’t say anything about his plans in an interview with talkSPORT.

There is now a chance that Rodgers could get the former Bosnia and Herzegovina player for free.

Asmir Begovic is no longer with Queens Park Rangers.

After the end of his deal with Queens Park Rangers, Begovic has now left Loftus Road, according to the club’s official X account.

Paul Nardi, a former goalkeeper for Gent, has been brought in to take his place. This ends Begovic’s excellent year at the Sky Bet Championship team [BBC Sport].

Marti Cifuentes, their boss, talked about the veteran’s exit. “Asmir did a great job last season, and we knew he wouldn’t be back, so it was important we had a good group of goalkeepers here,” he said.

Without a question, Begovic has had a great career and has a lot of Premier League experience. Still, Celtic fans would be worried about his age if they were interested in signing him this summer.

The holders of the Scottish Premiership have been looking for experienced goalkeepers over the last few years. If they can’t get any younger players they want, getting the ex-Chelsea player could be a good option, even though they are only thinking about the short term.
