Mikey Johnston has talked about why he left Celtic and joined West Bromwich Albion this summer.

After a great loan season at The Hawthorns last year, the Republic of Ireland winger was in high demand this summer.

After a deal was made with Johnston, Sheffield United thought they had their man. But West Brom made a late move, so there was really only going to be one winner.

As soon as West Brom made their offer, Johnston said goodbye to his Celtic teammates and went back to the Championship club where the fans loved him.

His goal is to play in the Premier League.

After making the move from Celtic to West Brom for good, Mikey Johnston has talked about why he chose to become a West Brom player.

Johnston told Birmingham Live, “I watched the games against QPR and Leeds because I like football and wanted to see how we were doing at the start of the season.”

“I’ve kept in touch with everyone and watched.” I thought this was the best choice because I thought we had a good chance to make it to the Premier League. Hopefully we can do that.

“I believe we have a strong base, leaders in the team, and game-winners, and I believe we have a good chance.”

“I’m so excited to get going because of the time between when I get here and my first game.” The start has been great, but I’m still new and haven’t been given anything, so I need to go join the team.

“The goal was to get us into the Premier League. We just missed it, but I think we have a great chance of making it this year.”

The good work of Johnston will show.

We’ve said over and over that we thought Johnston was a good player. He is good enough to play for his country, but things weren’t going well at Celtic.

It’s true that Johnston’s fitness problems at the club didn’t help him at all, but even when he was healthy, there seemed to be something holding him back at Celtic Park.

Johnston seemed to let go of his own handle when he played for West Brom, and he did very well down south.

67 Hail Hail gives Johnston the best of luck with his future, both personally and for his international career. We really hope to see him shine in England’s top flight as soon as possible.
