According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona has finalised a deal with the 36-year-old striker Robert Lewandowski
The veteran striker Robert Lewandowski has already signed a new deal with FC Barcelona, according to anonymous sources who spoke to Mundo Deportivo.
The Polish player joined the Catalans in the summer of 2022, when President Joan Laporta used his famous “economic levers” to buy him from Bayern Munich. With the money from selling TV rights, Laporta also bought Jules Kounde and Raphinha.
After almost three years, all three guys are still very important to the team that is currently competing with Real Madrid for the La Liga title and is led by former manager Xavi Hernández. Their manager is Hansi Flick.
Even though he looks 36 years old some of the time, “Lewa” is Spain’s top scorer and second in the Champions League for goals scored.
When he moved from Bayern, Lewandowski signed a four-year deal, but the last year was conditional on him playing a certain number of games in 2024–25, which would set off a clause.
This rule will be used if the number 9 plays in next Monday’s home game against Rayo Vallecano in Montjuic. Even so, Mundo Deportivo
unnamed sources say that the club and its players have already agreed on a deal for Lewandowski to stay with Blaugrana for one more season.
A report from the newspaper also says that there is no plan for Lewandowski to take an extra year on top of the next one. However, the player and his family have reportedly decided to stay in Barcelona after he retires because his wife has set up businesses there.
