After having another injury setback: 26 years-old Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez break silence and gives an emotional message to Manchester United fans
Lisandro Martinez, a defender for Manchester United, sent out a moving message after suffering another injury setback.
All season long, Man United has had a lot of bad luck with injuries. On Sunday, things didn’t get any better.
The team led by Erik ten Hag easily beat West Ham 3-0 in the Premier League at Old Trafford. However, seeing Lisandro Martinez limp off the field just after the hour mark ruined the game.
The Argentine defender was playing in his fourth game after being out for four months with an injury. When he got into a fight with West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal on the bench, it was clear that he was badly hurt.
People at first thought that the 26-year-old had hurt his anterior cruciate ligament, which would have kept him out for the rest of the season and most of the summer.
Martinez and United are lucky that the back only sprained the medial collateral ligament in his knee. He will not be able to play for about eight weeks instead of eight months.
Twenty-four hours after getting hurt, Martinez sent a touching message to his fans and talked about how frustrating things are for him.
Martinez put a picture of himself on Instagram and wrote, “I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the support I’ve received and reassure you that I’ll soon be back out there, and we’ll fight together.” Always one!”
Even though the injury news was mostly good, Martinez’s loss is still a big blow to United’s season.
United has played better in recent games with the center defender on the field than when he wasn’t there for four months and Ten Hag didn’t have any good replacements.
United will not have their most important defender for this weekend’s game against Aston Villa and next month’s game against Manchester City. Martinez will also miss the FA Cup fifth round match this month.
If he does come back after the March international break, he might be able to play against Brentford on March 30. After that, he might be able to play against Chelsea and Liverpool.
