Arne Engels recounts the Celtic team’s reaction in the dressing room during intermission of the Easter Road match against Hibs. Celtic’s Champions League loss to Hibs was precipitated by an exceptional performance in Munich.

The Celtic defeat to Hibs has now eclipsed the Bhoys’ stalemate with Munich, as the Hoops appeared to be at a loss for ideas during the first half, during which the capital club established a two-goal advantage. The Japanese winger’s second goal was interfered with by VAR,

preventing him from scoring a Celtic double as the Hoops emerged from the nets in the second half. Arne Engels suggests that Celtic’s efforts to salvage at least a point at Easter Road were energised by the halftime fury that emanated from the Easter Road changing rooms. Arne Engels claims that his Celtic companions were “angry” during the first half of the match against Hibs. Engels stated in the Daily Record [print edition page 42],

“It is inevitable that everyone was displeased with the performance.” However, no one was shrieking or doing anything, as we were aware that we had a second half to play and would attempt to score the winning goal and the equaliser. “You observed us exerting ourselves to the utmost, and we are disappointed, particularly with the initial half.”

This cannot occur to us. Arne Engels dismisses an absurd inquiry regarding Celtic’s performance against Hibs. Engels was subsequently enquired as to whether he and his colleagues were permitted to take a day off, and the Belgian responded by immediately declining the offer.

Engels retorted, “Never — never.” There are no justifications. Our excuses are nonexistent, regardless of whether we prevail or fail. “We are akin to genuine athletes, and we consistently maintain the mindset of striving for excellence in all aspects of our lives.”

That is a truly positive aspect of our organisation. “You can also observe that we do not lower our heads in the second half.” We continue to strive for the equaliser, and we were nearly successful. We simply need to retain the positive aspects of the second half. Our performance in the second half was exceptional;

it is evident that we were under pressure to score a goal. “We generated such an abundance of energy in the second half that we also had opportunities.” Therefore, it is imperative that we continue. Celtic would have likely defeated Hibs if VAR had not been implemented, as the Scottish champions were on the rise.

Nevertheless, it was not to be, and the Bhoys only managed to lose their second game of the season. The following match is against Aberdeen, as Celtic’s schedule is characterised by a high volume of fixtures. The fans are anticipating that the team’s rage from Saturday will persist and motivate them to secure an additional three points in their title defence.
