Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi are expected to depart Newcastle United, which will result in a change in ownership.
Staveley Cantervale Holdings acquired a 10% stake in Newcastle following the club’s acquisition in 2021. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund acquired an 80% stake, while Jamie Reuben’s RB Sports & Media acquired the remaining 10%. Staveley’s stake was subsequently reduced to 6% and subsequently to 5.7%, while Reuben’s share increased to 14.3%.

Staveley and her spouse Ghodoussi are expected to sell their remaining stake in the club to either PIF or RB Sports & Media, according to a variety of reports. A club statement is anticipated.

Staveley has been a critical figure in the organization of Newcastle, despite her minority interest. She has been responsible for the club’s operations in conjunction with Ghodoussi. She was the driving force behind the acquisition process and recently assisted in the negotiation of a new four-year contract with midfielder Joelinton, which was a result of extensive contract negotiations.

The pair’s official involvement at St James’ Park will conclude with the sale of the residual stake in the club. Newcastle’s transformation from the relegation zone to the Champions League in less than two years has been significantly influenced by the acquisition that occurred in 2021.

The club achieved seventh place in the table last season, despite missing out on European football. They will be striving to enhance their performance in the upcoming season.

The latest accounts of the club have verified that the 51-year-old has been loaned £1.2million. Staveley has reportedly expressed her intention to sell her stake. In November 2022, a £600,000 interest-free loan was granted to cover legal fees that were still unpaid as of June 30, 2023. On August 31, 2023, an additional £659,056 was lent.

According to senior club sources, the loans will be fully repaid.
