Cameron Carter-Vickers, a defender for Celtic, missed today’s Scottish Cup match against Livingston. Manager Brendan Rodgers gave a report on the player.
Stephen Welsh was unexpectedly put in the defensive line with Liam Scales. This made people worry about Carter-Vickers’ health and any possible injuries.
Since surgery last summer, the US player has had a lot of problems getting back to full health. Celtic don’t need him to be out for a long time again.
About Cameron Carter-Vickers by Brendan Rodgers
Before Sunday’s game, the Bhoys manager told Celtic TV, “It’s really just a precaution.” We’ve been taking care of him for a few weeks now, and last weekend he did a full 90.
“He just had a little something yesterday while training.” It was just a very light practice.
“We didn’t want to risk anything with him; we have other players who can fill in.” As a safety measure, we take him outside and check the area. Hopefully, he’ll be fine.
So, it’s not all good news, but at least a major problem has not been proven. Everyone who supports will be crossing their fingers that nothing comes up on the check.
Without a question, Celtic is a much better team with Carter-Vickers on the field. Since Maik Nawrocki is also out right now, there isn’t a lot of depth at the spot right now.
In the meantime, Welsh and Scales should be able to do a good job, and Gustaf Lagerbielke can step in as a backup, even though he almost left the club in January.
We’ll want Carter-Vickers to be healthy and fit for the next few tough games, like the important match against Rangers at Ibrox.
