Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley might be sold out this summer transfer window as Premier League club shows interest on the Danish international player

Matt O’Riley’s transfer saga persists as the Celtic midfielder garners the interest of yet another English Premier League team.

As some of Europe’s most prominent clubs contemplate the possibility of incorporating O’Riley into their rosters, the Danish international has been the subject of considerable speculation this summer.

It appears that the La Liga team will need to prepare for some healthy competition from south of the border, as Atletico Madrid is reportedly still displaying interest.

Southampton expressed interest in the transaction earlier this week; however, the transaction was halted when O’Riley’s salary demands exceeded the amount proposed by the Saints.

It appears that Russel Martin will need to anticipate competition from one of his competitors in the top tier of England in order to secure the Celtic midfielder.

After a £30 million transfer sale, Leicester City is interested in O’Riley.

The Scottish Sun has reported that Leceister City, Brendan Rodgers’ former club, are considering O’Riley as a replacement for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who was transferred to Chelsea for £30m this summer.

The report also asserts that observers from The Foxes, who achieved promotion to the top tier last season, are of the opinion that the Celtic midfielder has the potential to replace the goals and assists of the new Chelsea star.

It is also indicated that The King Power Stadium team may need to pay a higher sum than the £30m fee they received from Enzo Maresca’s team for Dewsbury-Hall.

Just two days ago, O’Riley resumed pre-season training at Celtic in anticipation of his departure for the pre-season tour of the United States later this month.

Celtic supporters will be eager for their idol to remain at the club for a single additional season as the club competes in the revamped Champions League group stages.

The only advantage that the Hoops supporters can derive from the reported interest of Southampton and Leicester is that neither team will be participating in European football next season, and the Dane may well desire another opportunity to compete with Celtic.

There is no doubt that there will be additional speculation and rumors as the transfer window continues; however, O’Riley’s primary concern will be to ensure that he is physically prepared for the upcoming season. It is our sincere wish that this season will see him don the green and white Hoops.
