Celtic officially release an official statement on Rangers fans attending the match at Glasgow Derby
Celtic will not have any away fans when they go to Rangers in the new year because there is still no agreement on how to handle visiting fans at Glasgow Derby games.
The Bhoys spent the summer putting in place safety steps for when away fans come back to the game, which they have now finished. Still, there won’t be any Rangers fans in the east end of Glasgow next month either.
It’s not a surprise that our enemies haven’t kept their end of the deal since they’re playing at Hampden while work on the stadium at Ibrox continues after a long delay.
Before the lockout got longer, there were plans for a 5% allocation to be at both Celtic Park and Ibrox for the first two games of the Scottish Premiership season, as long as fans’ safety was secured on both sides.
Since that’s not going to happen, even though Celtic did what they were supposed to do, the club has now made a comment about it.
Celtic’s comment on the lockout situation in the Glasgow Derby
Celtic posted a statement on their official club website earlier today about the ongoing problem with away fans at Glasgow Derby games.
It says in full, “Over a number of months, Celtic has finished all the work that needed to be done to accommodate away fans for derby matches.”
“Because we couldn’t be sure that our fans would be able to get to Ibrox in January, we weren’t able to give away tickets at Celtic Park for the upcoming game in September.” We will continue to work with everyone to find an answer that works for everyone.
Fans from other teams will now have to wait until 2025 to come back, which will make the wait longer for at least the first two games.
Celtic is right when they say that they kept their end of the deal. The fight over assignments has been going on for a long time and will likely continue for a while. We will have to wait and see what happens now.
Either way, fans are getting tired of the whole thing, which is bad for the show as a whole.
