Fans have been very unhappy with Celtic’s trade business over the last two seasons.

Don’t get me wrong—people like Kyogo Furuhashi, Matt O’Riley, Daizen Maeda, and Reo Hatate have had great successes.

Celtic, on the other hand, always seems to find a player like Hyeokkyu Kwon, Nat Phillips, Oliver Abildgaard, or Yosuke Ideguchi.

That’s because of the market Celtic is in and the way they trade players. It can be good to not spend more than £3m on a player, and it can pay off in some ways.

But we’ve seen this season and also when Ange Postecoglou was in charge that the quality isn’t the same as if we spent £6m on Jota or Cameron Carter-Vickers.

That will all change this summer, though, according to what reporter Mark Guidi has been told.

Celtic is going to spend this summer

Guidi talked about Brendan Rodgers’ need to replace Joe Hart this summer on Go Radio last night. He said that there is still value at the lower end of the transfer market, but the reporter said that he’s heard Celtic are about to move into the £6m–£7m player market this summer.

“I’ve said many times,” Guidi said on The Go Radio Football Show. It’s a free transfer or a £1 million transfer fee and a nice fat deal, as I said last season. If Celtic can find a Jack Butland or Joe Hart, they should go for it.

“But figure out if you need to spend £6m to £7m, then do it.” I’ve also been told that Celtic is back in that market.

“The days when £3 million was almost a ceiling are over.” When players come up for sale for £6m to £7m, Celtic are very much back in the market.

“And that’s how it should be, especially for the goalkeeper.”

People who like Celtic will be very happy if this is true. It’s been too long since we’ve seen project players join the club and fail or look bad in the Champions League.

To make the first team successful, the right amount of money needs to be spent on them, and it looks like Rodgers may be able to get the key player he’s been wanting all season. Celtic has the money to do it, let’s face it.

We already lost the League Cup because we couldn’t find the right players, so let’s hope it doesn’t happen again this season. It would look bad if we lost the league and the Scottish Cup and Celtic got nothing at the end of the season.
