Former Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria gave his verdict on who is a better player between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi
There is a huge gap between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, according to a former Real Madrid star who recently weighed in on the ongoing discussion regarding who is the best player of all time. Ronaldo and Messi are both considered to be among the greatest players of all time.
Both of the football players were teammates of Angel Di Maria. Ronaldo was Ronaldo’s teammate at Real Madrid from 2010 until 2014, while Messi was Messi’s teammate from the time Messi made his debut on the international stage in 2008 until his retirement not too long ago. Recently, he made a contribution to the argument regarding the GOAT.
After winning consecutively with Messi and the rest of the Albiceleste squad, Di Maria announced his retirement. After the victory, he declared that the former Barcelona player was substantially ahead of Ronaldo in the debate for the Greatest of All Time due to the number of Ballon d’Or victories he had won.
“When all is said and done, the best player is the one who has the most Ballon d’Or—and Messi has eight of them.” Consequently, I believe that there is a certain amount of difference between him and Cristiano,” he stated, as reported by Hindustan Times.
At the moment, Messi has won eight Ballon d’Or honors, which is three more than Ronaldo has won in his career. The fact that he won the Copa America championship lends validity to Di Maria’s assertion that he is the most decorated football player in the history of the tournament.
