Bournemouth defender Max Aarons has shared what it was like to play against Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku.

Back in November, City beat Bournemouth 6-1 at the Etihad Stadium, during which Doku scored one goal and delivered four assist

Even though the Belgian has missed City’s two previous Premier League games, before this weekend’s match against Crystal Palace, through injury, he has found himself being the topic of conversation with one player who was on the receiving end of his attacking dominance against Bournemouth.

Speaking in a recent edition of the Filthy Fellas podcast, Aarons had this to say about what it’s like to play against Doku in comparison to former Liverpool winger Sadio Mane.

He said: “With Mane, he didn’t want to get the ball and dribble at you. The thing is with Doku, he wants to try and embarrass someone and he wants to face you up, whereas Mane would run inside you and get on the end of crosses.

“Obviously a great player but I think Doku is one of those that, he’s going to trouble a lot of full-backs this year. Silent assassin.”

Since arriving at the Manchester club back in August from Rennes in a deal worth £55m, the attacker has gone on to score three goals and provide six assists in 17 appearances across all competitions.

With 11 Premier League games under his belt, Doku has racked up more successful take-ons (44) than any other player in the division, which highlights just how much of a nuisance he has been when taking on individual opponents.

Looking back over the big win against Bournemouth the fact that Doku successfully completed all five dribbles he attempted and the fact that Aarons got dribbled past on two occasions, it’s no surprise that he thinks the City star will give other defenders a nightmare throughout the season.s.Even though the Belgian has missed City’s two previous Premier League games, before this weekend’s match against Crystal Palace, through injury, he has found himself being the topic of conversation with one player who was on the receiving end of his attacking dominance against Bournemouth.
