How Newcastle United chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan was humiliated by Manchester United and the sporting director deal with Dan Ashworth revealed

It was said that Manchester United’s talks for Dan Ashworth “insulted” Newcastle United chief Yasir Al-Rumayyan.

Newcastle and Manchester United got into a heated argument after Manchester United made an offer for the sports director. Before being given a job at Manchester United, Ashworth had only been with Newcastle for a little over two years and called his job at St. James’ Park “long-term.”

Because of this, Ashworth had been on gardening leave at Newcastle since February. In late June, both sides finally agreed to pay each other money. The 53-year-old has started his job at Old Trafford, but it is said that his departure didn’t go over well with the head of The Magpies.

iNews says that Al Rumayyan was set on only letting Ashworth leave on Newcastle’s terms because he felt “personally affronted by the former FA technical director’s professions of ignorance.” This feeling got worse when Sir Jim Ratcliffe offered £2 million in compensation.

The story also says that Al-Rumayyan thought the offer was “insulting” before he finally agreed to a £10 million deal last week.

After that, Newcastle hired Paul Mitchell to replace Ashworth. The player who used to play for Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, RB Leipzig, and AS Monaco turned down a job at Manchester United before deciding to become the sporting director at Newcastle. Mitchell will be in charge of hiring more people, and he will have more say over possible moves than Ashworth did before. The 42-year-old came to St. James’ Park with a great track record of making good signings at the places he’s worked for before.

Mitchell brought in good players like Sadio Mane, Graziano Pelle, Dusan Tadic, and Victor Wanyama to help Southampton move up from the Championship to a strong team in the top half of the Premier League. With the additions of Kieran Trippier, Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld, and Heung-Min Son, he also built a Tottenham Hotspur team that could challenge for the title.

After getting the job at Newcastle, Mitchell said, “It’s with great pride that I accept the responsibility of being Newcastle United’s new sporting director.”

“I’ve seen how the club has grown and how ambitious they are now.” This, along with the huge number of fans, made the choice to join very simple.

“I’m excited to start my new job and help the organization continue to grow and be competitive in all areas of elite football performance over the long term.”
