In order to maintain their financial stability, the Magpies may continue to dispose of a few first-team players this summer.
Newcastle United have identified the players they are prepared to sacrifice this summer in order to remain within the Premier League’s profit and sustainability (PSR) guidelines.

The Magpies have already consented to the departures of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, who have reportedly garnered the club a combined sum of £65 million after moving to Nottingham Forest and Brighton, respectively. Nevertheless, there are additional names that are being associated with departures prior to the onset of the 2024/25 season.

Newcastle has the option to sell Kieran Trippier before the summer transfer window closes, according to Football Insider. The right-back is currently in the final year of his contract at St James’ Park and has recently garnered interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Interest in Trippier has increased since his return from the 2024 Euros with England, with ‘new enquiries’ now being made regarding his availability in the wake of the Three Lions’ successful run to the final in Germany.

Newcastle is considering the possibility of selling the 33-year-old defender, who is one of the team’s highest-earning players, following a near call with the PSR restrictions.

Eddie Howe’s association with the vacant England position is also a factor in Trippier’s exit negotiations. Gareth Southgate’s resignation has prompted widespread speculation regarding his successor. Howe has been nominated to assume the role of international manager; however, he has emphasized his “unwavering dedication” to Newcastle.

Trippier has been a critical member of the Magpies since his transfer from Atlético Madrid in 2022. The club acquired him from the La Liga team for £12 million, and they may be able to recoup their investment if they approve a sale this summer.

Christian Falk reported that Newcastle had set an asking price of €15 million (£12.8m) for the defender, and Bayern Munich had expressed interest in Trippier earlier this year. Trippier was also reported to be anticipating a salary of €10 million (£8.4m) upon his departure from the Toon.

Newcastle is at risk of losing Trippier for free next year, which would allow clubs to engage in pre-contract negotiations. Consequently, both parties have a significant amount to consider this summer.
