Liverpool deals with another injury setback as 25 years-old Defender is set to miss Chelsea vs Liverpool EFL Cup Final

Liverpool will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold for a while longer. They have big games coming up against Chelsea and Manchester City.

Liverpool has been dealt another painful injury blow. Trent Alexander-Arnold will be out for a while longer after making an existing knee problem worse. Alexander-Arnold will not be able to play in this month’s Carabao Cup final against Chelsea or possibly on March 10 in the Premier League title game with Manchester City.

The 25-year-old right back had just come back from hurting his knee in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Burnley at Anfield on Saturday, which put them back on top of the league.

But there was worry when he left the game at halftime because he was hurting the same knee he had hurt before.

Multiple news sources say Alexander-Arnold will be out for at least a few weeks because of the diagnosis, which is bad news for Liverpool and Klopp.

Alexander-Arnold missed three games because he tore a small ligament on the outside of his knee during Liverpool’s 2-0 win at Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup.

In the next round, they beat Norwich City 5-2 as a replacement, and then he came off the bench as the Reds beat Chelsea 4-1 in the Premier League.

The next week, Arsenal lost 3-1 at home to Manchester City. Alexander-Arnold played 58 minutes of that game and then kept his starting spot against Burnley.

The England player seems to have come back too soon, though, as he can’t play in the Carabao Cup final on February 25 against Chelsea at Wembley.

He won’t be able to watch Liverpool play Brentford and Luton Town in the league before next Sunday either. Klopp is trying to stay ahead of Arsenal and City in the hopes of having a magical end to his rule.

On the other hand, Alexander-Arnold might not be able to play in the FA Cup fifth-round match against Southampton at the end of the month or in the next two league games.

One is a trip to Nottingham Forest on March 2 that they can win, and the other is a huge game at Anfield on March 10 against Pep Guardiola and City.

A week later, Liverpool plays Everton in the Merseyside match at Goodison Park. This is before England’s international break, during which they play Brazil and Belgium to get ready for Euro 2024.
