Major Reason why Enzo Fernandez was substituted in the first half of Chelsea vs Newcastle United Carabao Cup Match clash
Enzo Fernandez is taken off during the first half of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup match against Newcastle. This is news for Chelsea fans.
In Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup match between Chelsea and Newcastle United, Enzo Fernandez was taken off after only 30 minutes.
For tonight’s quarterfinal, the Argentine was put in the Blues’ center with Moises Caicedo. But Armando Broja came on for him after 30 minutes, which was another injury worry for Mauricio Pochettino.
Sky Sports say the defender is not feeling well. Fernandez walked straight down the hallway with Jesus Perez, who was the assistant manager, and other staff members.
During the halftime break, the 22-year-old player was shown holding his thigh when he was speaking with Pochettino. This leads one to believe that Fernandez has, in fact, sustained a muscle injury; however, it is not known how long he could anticipate being sidelined for.
The Argentine international was one of the players that came on as substitutes during Chelsea’s victory over Sheffield United, which was a critical victory for Chelsea. After being taken out of the game against Newcastle in the first half of this evening’s match, Fernandez did make a comeback in the second half of the match; however, it is possible that he will now be forced to sit out for some time.
